Ecovacs GOAT O1200 LiDAR Pro Robotic Lawn Mower

Robotic Lawn Mower

From: Ecovacs

The Ecovacs O1200 LiDAR Pro is a wire-free robotic lawn mower that uses Multiline LiDAR combined with a 3D ToF sensor and AI camera to map and mow your garden accurately. No boundary wire installation. Setup takes just 10 minutes.

It handles slopes up to 45% and can navigate passages as narrow as 80cm. The 22cm cutting blade and 18cm trimmer head cover edges and tight corners with near-zero grass residue. Cutting height adjusts electronically across 11 levels from 30mm to 80mm.

Choose between Delicate mode at 120m²/h or Efficient mode at 180m²/h. The 5,200mAh lithium-ion battery delivers up to 90 minutes per charge and refills in just 70 minutes. Both the mower and charging station carry an IPX6 waterproof rating.

Product Features

Multiline LiDAR Navigation - Unlike basic GPS-only mowers, Multiline LiDAR actively scans the garden in real time to build an accurate map. This means the mower follows systematic, efficient mowing paths rather than random patterns, covering the lawn thoroughly and reducing missed patches. No boundary wire is needed at all. 3D ToF + AI Camera Obstacle Avoidance - The combination of a 3D Time-of-Flight sensor and an AI camera gives the mower genuine spatial awareness. It detects garden furniture, children's toys, pets and debris and navigates around them without stopping or getting stuck. This is a meaningful step up from basic bump sensors found on cheaper models. Edge Trimming Included - Many robotic mowers leave a strip of uncut grass along borders and fences. The 18cm trimmer head on this model tackles edges and tight corners directly, leaving near-zero grass residue. The result is a finished lawn that looks properly maintained rather than partially mowed.
45% Slope Capability - A 45% gradient is steep roughly equivalent to a 24-degree incline. Most entry-level robotic mowers manage 25 - 35%. This mower's enhanced traction and power delivery allow it to work on genuinely challenging terrain, making it suitable for gardens with banks, raised sections or uneven ground. IPX6 Waterproof Rating - IPX6 means the mower and its charging station can withstand powerful water jets from any direction. In practice this means it continues mowing in heavy British rain without issue and can be left outdoors without damage. Both units carry this rating, not just the mower itself. Fast Charge 5,200mAh Battery - The lithium-ion battery provides up to 90 minutes of continuous mowing and recharges in just 70 minutes. That recharge-to-runtime ratio is notably efficient. The mower returns to its station automatically when the battery is low and resumes where it left off once charged.

FAQs

Does the Ecovacs O1200 LiDAR Pro require a boundary wire?

No. This is one of its most significant advantages over traditional robotic mowers. It uses Multiline LiDAR combined with a 3D ToF sensor and AI camera to map your garden and define its working area. You set the boundaries through the ECOVACS app. There is no need to bury or lay any perimeter wire, which saves considerable time during installation and avoids the risk of accidentally cutting through a wire later.

How long does setup take?

Ecovacs states the installation time is approximately 10 minutes. You charge the unit, place the charging station, connect to the ECOVACS app and allow the mower to map the garden itself. One customer confirmed setup took around 20 minutes in practice, which includes charging time and app configuration. Either way it is significantly faster than wire-based systems which can take several hours to install properly.

What is the maximum garden size this mower can handle?

The product listing does not specify a maximum garden area directly. However the mowing modes give a useful indication of capacity. In Efficient mode the mower covers 180m² per hour. In Delicate mode it covers 120m² per hour. With a 90-minute battery runtime per charge and a 70-minute recharge time, you can calculate coverage based on your garden size and how frequently you want it mowed.

Can it handle slopes and uneven ground?

Yes. The mower handles slopes up to 45% gradient, which is approximately a 24-degree incline. This is steeper than many competing robotic mowers which typically manage 25 - 35%. It can also navigate passages as narrow as 80cm, making it suitable for gardens with gated sections, narrow side passages or areas between raised beds.

How does the obstacle avoidance actually work?

The mower uses three technologies working together. The Multiline LiDAR provides a continuous scan of the surrounding area. The 3D Time-of-Flight sensor measures precise distances to objects in three dimensions. The AI camera identifies what those objects are. Together they allow the mower to detect garden furniture, plant pots, hosepipes, pets and other debris and navigate around them without stopping or requiring manual intervention.

What cutting heights are available and how are they adjusted?

The mower offers 11 cutting height positions ranging from 30mm to 80mm. Adjustment is electronic rather than manual, meaning you change the cutting height through the app rather than physically adjusting a lever or dial. This makes it straightforward to change settings seasonally for example running a higher cut in summer drought conditions and a lower cut in spring when growth is strong.

Is the mower waterproof and can it operate in rain?

Both the mower and the charging station carry an IPX6 waterproof rating. IPX6 is defined as protection against powerful water jets from any direction. In practical terms this means the mower continues to operate in heavy rain and can be left outdoors permanently without risk of water damage. This is particularly relevant in the UK where rain during the growing season is common.

How is the mower controlled and can it be scheduled?

The mower is controlled via the ECOVACS app, which is available for both iOS and Android. Through the app you can set mowing schedules, switch between Delicate and Efficient mowing modes, adjust cutting height and monitor the mower's status. The app allows fully automated operation so the mower runs on a schedule without any manual input. Smart home compatibility is also included.
