Does the Segway Navimow i205 AWD need boundary wires installed around the garden?

No. This is one of its headline advantages over older robot mower technology. It uses EFLS Network RTK combined with Vision camera technology to map and navigate your garden without any physical boundary wire. You define the mowing area digitally through the app either by letting the mower map itself automatically or by guiding it manually via your phone. No digging, no wire laying and no physical markers are required.

What slope gradient can the i205 AWD handle?

It is rated for slopes up to 45% which equals 24 degrees. This is significantly steeper than most robot mowers on the market which typically cap out at around 20 - 35%. The all-wheel drive system combined with an automotive-grade Electronic Stability Control system actively stabilises the mower on inclines so it does not slip or lose control. The third drive motor engages automatically when extra traction is needed on steeper sections.

Do I need to purchase a separate RTK antenna or pay for cellular data?

No antenna is required. The mower connects via 4G cellular to Network RTK positioning services. As long as there is adequate 4G coverage at your location and the base station has a clear view of the sky it works without any additional hardware. If 4G coverage is poor in your area a compatible RTK antenna can be installed as an alternative. Cellular data costs are currently provided at no additional charge and the Connect Plus cellular connection is included free for the first year.

How large a garden can it manage and how long does it take?

The i205 AWD is recommended for gardens up to 500m². According to the manufacturer it can mow 500m² in approximately 8 hours. On a single 2.55Ah battery charge it covers up to 125m² before returning to its charging base automatically. It then resumes from exactly where it stopped. Because it mows little and often rather than in one large session the lawn stays consistently tidy rather than going through cycles of long growth followed by heavy cutting.

How does the mapping process work and can I control it manually?

There are two mapping methods. The first is full auto where the mower drives itself around the garden perimeter and maps the area independently with one tap in the app. The second is manual where you use your phone as a remote control to guide the mower around the boundary yourself. If you make an error during manual mapping you can hold the delete button and the mower automatically reverses its recorded route removing the mistake. Multiple zones up to 20 can be added and linked by driving the mower between them with the connecting path recorded as a route.

The cutting width is 18cm. Cutting height is adjustable between 2cm and 6cm across five positions. The single disc with five blades delivers a consistent cut across the full width.
