Product Features

GPS + Camera Navigation - The mower combines GPS positioning with an onboard camera running Optical Grass Recognition (OGR) software. This means it can map its surroundings visually and locate its charging station without any buried guide wires. Real-world users report setup in under 20 minutes a significant time saving over traditional wire-based systems. No Boundary Wire Required - Most robot mowers need metres of perimeter wire buried or pegged around the lawn. This model needs none. Hard garden borders fences, walls, edging act as the boundary. This removes hours of installation work and eliminates the common problem of wire breaks causing faults. One reviewer replaced a wire-based mower specifically for this reason. Drop & Mow Mode - Got a front and back garden? Carry the fully charged mower to any lawn and select spiral or random cutting pattern. It mows until the battery is low then waits to be collected. No secondary charging station or boundary setup is needed. This makes it genuinely practical for gardens split across multiple areas.
No-Go Strip System - 10 metres of magnetic No-Go strip is included. Lay it around ponds, re-seeded patches or steep slopes and the mower's onboard sensors will detect and avoid the area. Strips can be temporary or permanent. This gives precise control over which parts of the garden the mower accesses without any complex programming. MX 24V Shared Battery System - The 24V 4.0Ah lithium battery is compatible with the full LawnMaster MX 24V cordless tool range including hedge trimmers, grass trimmers, chainsaws and leaf blowers. You don't need to buy a new battery for each tool. Several reviewers purchased a second battery to swap out rather than waiting for the mower to dock and recharge. Daylight-Only Operation & Safety Sensors - The mower operates only during daylight hours. This protects nocturnal wildlife such as hedgehogs. Lift, tilt and bump sensors stop the blades immediately if the mower is picked up or collides with an object. PIN code protection prevents unauthorised use useful if the mower is stationed in a front garden or accessible area.

FAQs

Do I really need no boundary wire at all?

Correct no boundary wire is required. The mower uses a combination of GPS positioning and an onboard camera with Optical Grass Recognition (OGR) software to navigate. It relies on hard physical borders such as fences, walls, patio edges or garden edging to contain it. If you have soft borders like open flower beds, you can use the included 10 metres of magnetic No-Go strip to block those areas off. Multiple reviewers confirmed the mower was running within 20 minutes of unboxing.

What happens when the battery runs low?

When the battery level drops, the mower uses its GPS and camera to locate the charging station and returns to it automatically. The charging station needs to be plugged into an outdoor power socket. Once recharged, it resumes its mowing schedule. In Drop & Mow mode on a secondary lawn, it cannot return to the station itself it simply stops and waits on the lawn to be collected and carried back manually.

Can I use it on more than one lawn?

Yes. The Drop & Mow feature is designed exactly for this. Carry the fully charged mower to any lawn a front garden, a separate rear garden or even a neighbour's lawn and select either spiral or random cutting pattern. No additional setup or boundary configuration is needed. When the battery runs low it will stop and wait. One reviewer with five separate grassed areas uses it this way regularly and purchased a second battery to speed up the process.

Does it need an app or WiFi to work?

No. There is no app and no WiFi required. The mower is controlled entirely via an onboard dial and LCD display. You set the schedule and cutting height directly on the machine. This means it continues to function regardless of internet connectivity or whether the manufacturer's servers remain active. Several buyers specifically highlighted this as a reason they chose this model over competitors.

What lawn size is it suitable for?

The mower is rated for lawns up to 800m². That covers small terraced gardens right through to larger suburban plots. The 18cm cutting width and random or spiral cutting patterns mean it covers ground methodically over multiple sessions. For best results the manufacturer recommends running it frequently rather than in single long sessions this keeps the grass short enough for the mulching system to work effectively.

What cutting heights are available and which should I use?

There are 7 cutting height positions ranging from 20mm to 80mm. For longer or overgrown grass the manufacturer recommends starting at 60mm and gradually reducing the height over successive mowing sessions. Dropping straight to a low cut on long grass can stress the lawn. The mulching blade returns fine clippings to the soil as nutrients so there is no grass collection required.

Is it safe around children and wildlife?

The mower has lift, tilt and bump sensors that stop the blades immediately if it is picked up or collides with an object. PIN code protection prevents unauthorised use. Crucially it only operates during daylight hours this is a deliberate design choice to protect nocturnal wildlife such as hedgehogs which are active at night. It does not operate in the dark so animals that come out after dusk are not at risk.

What guarantee and support comes with it?

The mower comes with a 2-year domestic guarantee covering the robot mower, charging station and battery. LawnMaster is a brand by Cleva and has a UK-based customer support team. Spare parts are available for up to 5 years after purchase. It is worth noting that one reviewer reported a GPS failure within a year and found customer service response times slow so it is worth keeping your proof of purchase and registering the product promptly.
