Does the Lawnmaster OcuMow AMB16-400 need boundary wire installed around the lawn?

No. This is a fully wire-free robotic mower. It uses an HDR camera, ultrasonic sensors and Optical Grass Recognition to detect the edges of your lawn. It works with hard defined borders such as paving slabs, sleepers or raised edging. If your lawn has soft or undefined edges without a physical border, this mower may not be suitable as it relies on those clear visual boundaries to navigate correctly.

What size lawn is this mower designed for?

The mower is rated for lawns up to 400m². It's aimed at small to medium gardens. The 2.2Ah battery provides up to 90 minutes of runtime per charge. For larger gardens the mower will simply complete multiple charging and mowing cycles automatically until the scheduled session is finished. Edge trimming will still be required separately as the mower cannot cut flush against all border types.

Do I need a smartphone or app to use this mower?

No app is required at all. Control is handled entirely through the onboard keypad on the mower itself. You select your schedule (4, 6, 8 or 10 hours), choose daily or every-other-day operation and set your cutting height using a simple dial. There are no Bluetooth or Wi-Fi connections needed. A PIN code is built in to prevent unauthorised use.

How does the No-Go strip work and how much is included?

5 metres of No-Go strip is included in the box. You lay this strip along the ground to create a physical barrier that the mower recognises and avoids. It's useful for blocking off areas like garden ponds, newly seeded patches or steep slopes that the mower shouldn't enter. It's a straightforward physical solution that requires no programming or app configuration.

What slopes can this mower handle?

The mower handles slopes up to 35% gradient which is equivalent to approximately 19°. This covers a reasonable range of garden inclines. However for very steep or uneven terrain beyond this rating the mower is not designed to operate safely. If your garden has significant slopes it's worth measuring the gradient before purchasing to confirm compatibility.

Is the mower safe around children and pets?

The mower includes safety sensors that immediately stop the cutting blades if the unit is lifted off the ground, tipped over or comes into contact with an object. This is a standard and important safety feature. Additionally the mower is programmed to operate during daylight hours only which also reduces the risk of unexpected encounters with wildlife, pets or children in the garden.

What warranty and support comes with this mower?

The mower comes with a 2-year domestic guarantee covering both the mower and the charging station. Support is provided by a UK-based customer service team. Does the mower collect grass clippings?

No. The mower uses a mulching system rather than a collection box. It cuts grass into very fine clippings and deposits them back into the turf. Over time this feeds nutrients back into the soil which can strengthen grass roots and help suppress weed growth naturally. This means there's no grass box to empty after each session which reduces the maintenance required from the user.
